The NVDBC is proud to welcome Jean
Cummings, of The Politico
to discuss the pending 2008 presidential race
and its impact on Virginia politics in 2007.
Ms. Cummings began her Washington, D.C. career tracking the influence of Newt Gingrich for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She moved on the Wall Street Journal's Washington, D.C. Bureau where she became the Journal's White House correspondent. While there, Cummings earned the Aldo Beckman Memorial Award - the highest honor for White House correspondents for her coverage of the Clinton Administration. She also has earned journalism awards for her coverage of the Enron scandal and its connections to the Bush Administration.
In her position today with The Politico, Ms. Cummings focus is on documenting the rise of well-financed "independent" political organizations, dissecting presidential candidate fundraising, and tracking new lobbying shops in Washington, D.C.
